The objectives of the project will be to identify, record, and provide a preliminary evaluation of historic and prehistoric cultural resources that will or may be affected by future land management activities and to record alternative protection/mitigation measures to meet cultural resource management objectives as outlined in 36 CFR 800. This will include reviewing existing sources of information, conducting field surveys, analyzing the results, and preparing a report. Test excavation and evaluation of the National Register eligibility of certain sites will also be included. The project areas are located on the Hiawatha national Forest in Alger, Delta, Chippewa, mackinac, and Schoolcraft Counties, in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. All field work is to be completed within 100 calendar days of the Notice To Proceed, the interm report within 120 days, and the draft report within 190 days.
