(404) 842-6635 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
contemplates awarding a contract to provide the Division of Cancer
Prevention and Control (DCPC) of CDC with a mechanism to assist the
Health Communications Activity (HCA) and other groups within the
Division in the planning, development, and implementation of health
communication campaigns designed for cancer prevention and control.
Specific cancers of interest are skin, colorectal, prostate, breast,
and cervical. This contract will provide DCPC with an as needed
mechanism to assist all branches and sections with their specific and
varied health communication needs. Under this contract, health
communication is defined as "crafting and delivery of messages and
strategies, based on consumer research, to promote the health of
individuals and communities." In addition, the successful Offeror
should be able to assist the health communications activity (HCA) and
other DCPC branches with the development of potential behavioral
interventions which serve as complements to the division's current
scientific and program based interventions. Therefore, the successful
Offeror should have the capabilities, expertise, and experience in
planning, developing and implementing health communication efforts for
cancer prevention and control. The successful Offeror will provide
health communications support to the Division in the following areas
under the contract: 1) Project Management Duties, 2) Media Relations
and Networking with Media and Other Intermediaries, 3) Health
Communications for Priority Populations, 4) Environmental Scanning and
Research, 5) Health Communication Planning and Implementation, 6)
Campaign Implementation, Promotion and State Adaptation, 7) Campaign
Monitoring, Tracking and Assessment, and 8) Health Communication
Support. The scheduled issue date is approximately May 13, 1997. No
telephone requests will be accepted; only written requests for this
solicitation will be honored. Requests should cite RFP No.
200-97-0614(P). All responsible sources that meet the above
requirements may submit a proposal which shall be considered by the
