OPTICALLY CONTROLLED PHASED ARRAY ANTENNA The US Army CECOM Space & Terrestrial Communications Dir. (S&TCD) is conducting research for development of a tactical On-the-Move, multibeam, X-band optically controlled phased array antenna operating up to 15.44 Mb/s. The antenna and optical controller will be integrated into the Radio Access Point. It will be demonstrated in FY-00 as part of field exercise TBD receiving and transmitting two beams, simultaneously, while on-the-move, from multiple platforms via Airborne Relay. The CECOM Acquisition Bulletin Board contains a White Paper entitled, "Optically Controlled Phased Array" containing system objectives. Comments and questions on the White Paper are welcome.
