U.S. Army Missile Command, Research, Development, and Engineering
Center, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama is seeking a foreign or domestic
source or sources for a lightweight, shoulder launched, one-man
portable, disposable weapon system. The system must have completed
development and will be in production within one year of this
notification. The objective of this development is to demonstrate,
test, and evaluate the capability of an existing system(s) to defeat a
variety of targets when fighting in urban areas. The period of
performance of this effort shall not exceed 9 months. The base line
requirements of this weapon system are: PARAMETER AND SUGGESTED VALUE:
Systems Carry Weight, less than 30 lbs; System Cary Length, less than
48 inches; Fire from an Enclosure, 12 ft X 15 ft X 7 ft high; Toxicity
& Noise, below Sergeon General's Requirements; Effective Range, 200 to
500m; Minimum Range, 17 to 20m. PROBABILITY OF HIT: 2.3m high X 4.6m
wide @ 500m (Masonary Wall) 0.8; 2.3m X 2.3m (BMP) @ 350m, 0.9; 2.3m
high X 4.6m wide @ 300m (BMP Moving) 0.9; 1m high X 2m wide @ 200m
(Earth & Timber Bunker) 0.7. TARGETS (*Fabricate per HEL TM 30-78)
BMP-3; FBMP-F02; 8" Double Reinforced Concrete (16 ft X 16 Ft Room)*;
12" Solid Brick (16 ft X 16 Ft Room)*; Earth & Timber Bunker*.
LETHALITY AGAINST TARGETS: BMP-3 & FBMP-F02, Pk M or F; BMP-3 &
FBMP-F02, Pi vs Passengers; 8" concrete Room, Pi vs One Soldier; 12"
Brick Room, Pi vs One Soldier; Earth & Timber Bunker, Pi vs Two
Soldiers; Pi = Probability of Incapacitation. Contractors interested in
this demonstration, test, and evaluation should submit a white paper to
the U.S. Army Missile Command, ATTN: AMSMI-AC-CRBA/Ms. Brenda
Showalter, Redstone Arsenal, AL 35898-5275 on or before May 27, 1997.
The selection will be made on the basis of system maturity, technical
compliance with the base line requirements, prior demonstrated
effectiveness against the listed targets, and cost as discussed in the
