Hunter/MLCPAC@internet.uscg.mil. The U.S. Coast Guard Maintenance and
Logistics Command Pacific propose to contract for Drydock and Repairs
of the USCGC POLAR SEA ( WAGB-11 ). The estimated period is from
September 1997 through March 1998: the solicitation will be issued
under the Small Business Demonstration Program. The anticipated
issuance date is about 20 May 1997. The estimated bid opening date is
19 June 1997. Some of the major work items are as follows; 1)
Drydocking, 2) Installation of Polar Class Ship's Air Compress, 3)
Installation of Modification to Polar Class Bilge Ballast, 4)
Installation of Fuel Oil Purification System, 5) Tailshaft Removal and
Bearing Inspection, 6) Stern Tube Oak Rub Rub Rail Renewal, 7) MSB
David Biennial Inspection and Overhaul, 8) Zinc Anode Renewal, 9) Tank
Cleaning and Inspection, 10) Sea Valve/ Waster Piece Overhaul. This
Procurement is geographically restricted. All responsive and
responsible sources will be considered. The Contractor's facility must
be withon 400 nautical miles and within 200 road miles of the POLAR
SEA's moorings at Pier 36, Seattle, Washington. A pre-bid conference
for this procurement will be held at approximately two(2) weeks before
the scheduled bid opening date. For Women-Owned and Disadvantaged
Business Enterprises, The Department of Transportation (DOT) Minority,
Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization has Program to
assist minority, women-owned and disadvantaged enterprises to acquire
short-term working capital assistance for transportation-related
contracts. Loans are available Under the DOT Short-Term Lending Program
(STLP) at the prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable
financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000. For further
