39 -- REPLACEMENT OF NARROW AISLE LIFT VEHICLES AND GUIDANCE SYSTEM FOR THE AUTOMATED STORAGE AND RETRIEVAL SYSTEM (ASRS) AT TOBYHANNA ARMY DEPOT SOL DAAC71-97-R-0005 DUE 060997 POC Contract Negotiator, MARILYN WATKINS (717) 895-7918; Contracting Officer, JOYCE BEDNAR (717) 895-6369 Tobyhanna Army Depot is soliciting for equipment and services for the replacement of the narrow aisle lift vehicles and vehicle guidance systems. Contractor will be required to furnish 2 ea replacement narrow aisle lift vehicles to include the following minimum requirements: 2500 lb. lift capacity; 0 to 45 ft. fork height range; 42 in. telescopic forks; top travel speed of at least 6 MPH; 60 FPM lift speed; operate within 74 in. rack-to-rack aisle; turn around in maximum 17 ft. radius; employ floor-level, rub-rail guidance; power steering; emergency power disconnect; hour meter; battery discharge indicator with lift interrupt; color coded wiring; key switch; horn; cab, work and flashing lights; manual lowering valve; battery rollers; CRT power source; 2 ea min 800 Amp batteries/battery sets per vehicle with chargers; power source and mounting for existing LXI radio communications computer units; one-year warranty; user training. Vehicles shall be capable of placing and retrieving large, bulky materialsstored on standard wooden pallets anywhere within the ASRS unit load rack system. Aisle configuration does not allow sufficient space for vehicles to place/retrieve palletized stock head-on, but loading stations at the ends of aisles must be loaded head-on. Vehicles must therefore operate in a swing-mast/pivot-mast mode in order to meet the functional requirements of the ASRS unit load system. The contractor shall furnish and install new floor-level rub-rails which are compatible with the narrow aisle vehicles provided by the contractor and the 170 ft. long unit load system aisles in the ASRS building, including curved entrance corners on one end. Rub rails shall be of proper design and strength to provide appropriate vehicle guidance, containment and stability; end-of-aisle warning alarms to alert operator that the vehicle has come to within 10 feet of aisle end. Delivery and installation at Tobyhanna Army Depot, Tobyhanna, PA 18466. Approximate issue/closing dates are 12 May/02 Jun 97. Exact dates will be established when the solicitation is actually prepared and issued. This action is being solicited using FAR Part 12 commercial items/services procedures. Although the solicitation is unrestricted, sources requesting a copy of this action should identify their business size when making the request. SIC is 3537/750 employees.
