USAID/Nepal proposes to award a $5-6 million three-year cooperative agreement to support women's empowerment in the Rapti Zone and terai of Nepal. The agreement will support interventions providing for delivery of basic literacy services and in support of women's economic participation. It will require monitoring information system to track the impact of these interventions as well as a third intervention in women's right/advocacy which will be implemented through a separte mechanism. To be successful the recipient will require a strong local implementation base. We seek to support a tightly integrated Women's Empowerment Program which will also have strong links with USAID/Nepal's agricultural and health programs. The publication of this notice and/or the issuance of an RFA do not obligate the U.S. Government to make an award. Request for Applications (RFA) will be issued from May 16, 1997. The preferred method of distribution of USAID procurement information is via the Internet or by request of a solicitation on a 3.5" floppy disk (Wordperfect 5.1/5.2 format).
