USAID/Nepal proposes to award a $5-6 million three-year cooperative agreement to support women's empowerment in the Rapti Zone and terai of Nepal. The agreement will support interventions providing for delivery of basic literacy services and in support of women's economic participation. It will require monitoring information system to track the impact of these interventions as well as a third intervention in women's right/advocacy which will be implemented through a separte mechanism. To be successful the recipient will require a strong local implementation base. We seek to support a tightly integrated Women's Empowerment Program which will also have strong links with USAID/Nepal's agricultural and health programs. The publication of this notice and/or the issuance of an RFA do not obligate the U.S. Government to make an award. Request for Applications (RFA) will be issued from May 16, 1997. The preferred method of distribution of USAID procurement information is via the Internet or by request of a solicitation on a 3.5" floppy disk (Wordperfect 5.1/5.2 format). The CBD notice can be viewed and downloaded from the Agency Web Site. The RFA, once issued, can be downloaded from the Agency web site. The Worldwide Web address is http://www.info.usaid.gov. Select Business and Procurement Opportunities from the home page, then "USAID Procurement". On the following screen select "Download Available USAID Solicitations". The RFA can be also downloaded via Anonymous File Transfer Protocol (FTP). The FTP address is FTP/INFO.USAID.GOV. Logon using the user identification of "anonymous" and the password is your e-mail address. Look under the following directory for the RFA: pub/OP/RFA/36797016/36797016.rfa. Receipt of the RFA through Internet must be confirmed by written notice to the contact person noted above. It is the responsibility of the recipient of this solicitation document to ensure that it hasbeen received from the Internet in its entirety and USAID bears no responsibility for data errors using from transmission or conversion processes. Interested applications may also request a copy of the RFA by submitting a written request along with two (2) self-addressed, self-sticking mailing labels or by fax request to the Contracting Office, USAID/Nepal at 977-1-272357.
