The facilities include biosafety levels up to 3. The approximate plinth area will be 14,000 sq. mtr. The estimated cost of the project is likely to be more than Rs. 50 crores. The work will be executed within the complex of National Institute of Biologicals (NIB) located at A-32, Institutional Area, Phase II, Noida, India. This site is approx. 15 KM east of New Delhi and in the State of Uttar Pradesh. This project is being funded by Govt. of India, Overseas Economic Cooperation Fund (OECF),Tokyo, Japan and United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The planning and design has been doneby the National Institutes of Health (NIH), USA. The scope of work includes not only the construction of buildings, but also all building utilities and installation of biomedical equipment and case work. It also includes installation of incinerator, cold rooms, waste disposal system and domestic, animal and laboratory water systems, gas and air piping, etc. Eligibility of bidders: Eligible bidders (including all joint ventures and all subcontractors of a bidder) must be from DAC or OECD member countries. The qualification of the prospective bidders shall be as under: 1) The qualified bidder will have experience, during the last seven years, in the construction of two well functioning, science/research laboratory buildings having biocontainment facilities similar to those envisaged for the Science and Animal House Facility. i) The qualified bidder will have an average annual turnover during the last two financial years of Rupees 36 crores.
