SUPPORTING THE MEDICAL CHEMICAL DEFENSE PROGRAM SOL 074&&&-9704-0001
POC MCMR-AAA-B/Dan Signore (Site Code DAMD17) Sources are being sought
for the operation of a research, development, test and evaluation
(RDT&E) facility in support of the chemical defense research program
for the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC). To
forward the Army's mission of improving military effectiveness and the
survivability of soldiers in chemically-contaminated environments,
research will be engaged to answer and validate basic, applied, and
developmental biomedical questions critical to providing medical
countermeasures against known and emerging chemical threats. This
effort will involve animal models, alternatives to animal models, and
comprehensive bench top procedures using chemical surety materiels
(CSM) and other hazardous chemicals. The facility must be capable of
performing research under Good Laboratory Practice and Good
Manufacturing Practice guidelines and producing reports to support
submissions of New Drug Applications to the Food and Drug
Administration. Research is planned to commence late 1998/early 1999.
