R -- PROFESSIONAL CORRECTIONAL ACCREDITATION SERVICES DUE 052197 POC Contact John Young, Contracting Officer, 202/514-2919 The Immigration and Naturalization Service intends to award a sole source contract for professional correctional accreditation services under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The American Correctional Association (ACA) is a private, non-profit organization that administers the only national accreditation program for all components of adult and juvenile corrections. Their purpose is to promote improvement in the management of correctional agencies through the administration of a voluntary accreditation program and the ongoing development and revision of relevant, useful, standards. The ACA is located at 4380 Forbes Blvd., Lanham, MD 20706-4322, telephone (301) 918-1800. The INS has set a goal to have all of its detention facilities accredited by the ACA. Currently five INS facilities are accredited and INS requires that ACA conduct preaccreditation assessments at five other Service Processing Centers. These services will include development of protocols, initial on-site training, assessment of progress and compliance, mock accreditation audits, and monthly reports over a twelve month period. The contemplated contract will be a fixed-price, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity type service contract. This is not a request for proposals.
