Y -- CONSTRUCTION OF STRUCTURES AND FACILITIES; OBTAIN VENDORS FOR PRE-QUALIFICATION TO CONSTRUCT HOUSING ON THE ISLAND OF SAO TOME SOL ST-97-01 DUE 061397 POC Point of Contact -- Mr. Gary Hosford, Contracting Officer, Facsimile No. (202) 260-0855 The United States Information Agency (USIA) International Broadcasting Bureau (IBB), has a requirement for three (3) complete and ready to inhabit housing units of at least 1,800 sq ft each, at its radio relay station on the island of Sao Tome. These units may be constructed on-site or be prefabricated and shipped to the site. The IBB will first establish a Pre-Qualified Contractors List from which proposals for this design/build project will then be solicited. The Pre-Qualified Contractors List will be limited to Contractors interested in and capable of performing all management, design, and construction for these IBB personnel housing units at this remote overseas location. Selection of applicants will be based on experience and past performance with this type of project; capacity to provide bonding or other payment protection for subcontractors; and demonstrated ability to perform this work in a remote overseas location with minimal local resources and assistance from the U.S. Government. Detailed criteria will be contained within an "Application for Placement", which must be requested and submitted to IBB within 30 days of the date of this announcement. These Applications will be evaluated by IBB and offerors will be advised within 2 weeks of closing whether or not they have been placed on the Pre-Qualified Contractor List. Funds are not presently available for this contract. Contract award is contingent upon the availability of appropriated funds from which payment for contract purposes can be made. The IBB will only solicit quotes from those pre-qualified firms. They will be invited to submit a technical and cost proposal for the above project, whose estimated price range is between $250,000 and $500,000. Qualified general construction contractors will be considered responsible sources.
