16 -- F/A-18C/D AND E/F ADVANCED TARGETING FLIR POC Contact, Robert M. Minjack, Phone (703)604-6100 The Naval Air Systems Command intends to issue a cost plus fixed fee (CPFF) delivery order to McDonnell Douglas Aerospace (MDA) for activities directed toward the installation and integration of an Advanced Targeting FLIR (ATFLIR) for the F/A-18 Aircraft. This order will include activities preparatory to the selection of a supplier for the ATFLIR. As the sole designer, developer, manufacturer and supplier of the F/A-18 aircraft weapon system, MDA is the only firm which possesses the requisite knowledge, experience and technical data required to identify the ATFLIR system which meets the Navy's operational requirements without unacceptable delays and which can be effectively integrated on the F/A-18 aircraft weapon system. Furthermore, only MDA has the F/A-18 peculiar engineering data and expertise to provide the Government's minimum needs in a timely manner and without substantial duplication of costs to the Government.
