closed for more than five working days. Contractor is responsible for
assuring the installation is water and weather tight. The door shall be
completely self contained and self supporting. There shall be no need
for any external framing or bracing to set the door other than a level
floor area. The door must be able to serve as a singular primary
entrance to the building. This requires that the door meet all
applicable accessibility standards as well as being able to allow the
passage of an ambulance gurney. Therefore, the door shall be a two wing
revolving door. The door must provide a means for mass exit in the
event of an emergency i.e provide a clear opening of at least 48" in
width. The door must be able to fail safe in the event of a power
outage. Since this door will be the primary exit, if power is lost,
entry and exit capacity must be maintained. Materials: Extruded
aluminum alloy 6063-T5, except alloy used for color anodized aluminum,
shall be as required to produce specified color, not less than 3 mm
(0.125 inch) thick unless otherwise specified. Finish shall be dark
bronze, chemically etched medium matte, with integrally colored anodic
coating, Class I Architectural, 0.7 mils thick.. Door will be enclosed
in aluminum store front. Color of door and store front must match.
Glaze door wings and enclosure walls, with glass set in continuous
glazing cushions, with glass as follows: Revolving door wings: Clear
tempered 1/4" Enclosure Walls: Clear laminated 7/16" curved. Provide
protection for aluminum against galvanic actin, wherever dissimilar
materials are in contact, by painting the contact surfaces of the
dissimilar materials with a heavy coat of bituminous paint (complete
coverage), or by separating the contact surfaces with a performed
neoprene tape having pressure sensitive adhesive coating on one side.
Sensors: Provide redundant safety devices on the rotating component and
at the entrance openings. No touch sensors shall be provided on the
entrance to protect those just entering or exiting as the rotating
component approaches. If activated, the door shall stop. No-touch
sensors shall also be provided on the rotating component to sense a
body in its path. The rotating door shall have sensors at the leading
edge to protect someone just entering the door as well as sensors on
the door mullions to protect an individual at any point in the path
through the door. If an individual passing through the door is moving
slowly or stopped, the door will sense this and stop without hitting
the individual. As a redundant safety measure, compressible safety
switches shall be installed on the rotating component both at the outer
rail and horizontally at the bottom rail. If activated, the door shall
stop. All safety devices shall be controlled by a central processing
unit. The processor shall self diagnose the devices. If a malfunction
is detected, the door shall stop in the fail safe position. A digital
readout shall provide maintenance instruction. Fire Egress: The
automatic door shall be tied to the building fire alarm system. Upon
activation of the fire alarm system, the door shall automatically stop
in the fail safe position where people can exit the door freely
through an opening of at least 48". Battery Back-Up: In the event of a
loss of power, the door shall automatically rotate to the fail safe
position where exit and entry can commence manual. Function: The
automatic door shall have the capability to function in the following
modes: 1. Continuous rotation, 2. Rotation only when activated by
motion sensor on either side of the door. The door shall stop after the
person has cleared the door, 3. Manual operation. Rotation controlled
by forward and reverse switches. 4. Locked in closed position. 5.
Emergency stop. There shall be an emergency stop switch on each side of
the door. Lighting: Provide adequate lighting in each bay of the door.
Drive: Door shall be driven by two motors. Each motor shall be capable
of driving the door by itself in the event that the other fails.
Installation: Install revolving doors in prepared openings in
accordance with manufacturers installation instructions. Set anchors
and secure to adjacent construction where required. Adjust revolving
doors to operate easily and rotate evenly. Adjust weather-stripping to
make even contact with surfaces. Adjust speed control for required
revolutions per minute. Adjust pressure required to collapse doors to
amount specified. Fit and adjust hardware for ease of operation.
Protect finished surfaces from damage during fabrication, erection, and
after completion of the work. Strippable plastic coatings on colored
anodized finish are not acceptable. STOREFRONT: Aluminum: Extruded
ASTM. B221, Alloy 6063 temper T5, 0.080-inch thick. For color Anodized
finish, use aluminum alloy as required to produce specified color.
Provide Thermal Break: Manufacturer standard low conductive material
retarding heat flow in the framework, where insulating glass is
scheduled. Isolate aluminum from contact with dissimilar metals other
than stainless steel, white bronze, or zinc. Color finish: Dark Bronze

coating, Class I Architectural,7 mils thick. Install work plumb and
true, in alignment and in relation to lines and grades shown. Variation
of 3 mm (1/8 -- inch) in eight feet, non-accumulative, is maximum
permissible for plumb, level, warp, bow and alignment. Insulating Glass
Units: Provide factor fabricated, hermetically sealed glass unit
