The Defense National Stockpile Center is attempting to locate potential contractors with expertise and experience in chemically converting raw asbestos fibers into an inert non-hazardous material. The conversion of the asbestos into an intert material is to be accomplished on site. The Government plans to convert approximately 60,360 pounds of amosite asbestos, located at the Seneca Army Depot Activity. The asbestos is in free, unpackaged state stored in tank 88. A cost-plus-incentive-fee contract is contemplated. Closing date will be specified when the solicitation is issued. The Government is only interested in testing the capabilities of chemically converting amosite asbestos. This proposal is 100% set aside for small business concerns.
