The USEPA, National Risk Management Research Laboratory, Research Triangle Park, NC, requires a contractor to determine the root causes of the degradation in emission control performance seen in EPA-certified wood stoves in Crested Butte, CO residences. This work will build on previous studies, beginning in 1989, to monitor performance of EPA-certified wood stoves in ordinary residential settings in Crested Butte, CO. Based on the earlier data, the contractor shall select representative homes for further study. The selected stoves will be inspected and then emission tests run to gather data over a range of operating conditions. The stove models selected shall be representative of the EPA-certified stoves tested in Crested Butte. The contractor shall prepare a Quality Assurance Project Plan, monthly progress reports, and a final report. The Government intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Energy & Emissions Consulting, Inc. (total small business set-aside) for the required study.
