4. Products covered (HS or CCCN where applicable, otherwise national
tariff heading. ICS numbers may be provided in addition, where
applicable): Fairground and playground equipment. 5. Title, number of
pages and language(s) of the notified document: Interim Exemption from
the Inspection Obligation Regarding Fairground and Playground
Equipment. 6. Description of content: This Regulation postpones the
inspection obligation for fairground and playground equipment by three
months following entry into force of the Order on the Safety of
Fairground and Playground Equipment. 7. Objective and rationale:
According to the above-mentioned Order, new fairground and playground
equipment shall be inspected by an appointed inspectorate (type
inspection). Fairground and playground equipment which already has a
foreign inspection certificate does not require another inspection if
the foreign certificate has been equated with the certificate of a
Dutch inspectorate. Applications may be submitted for the appointment
of inspectorates and equalizations of certificates, upon which an
assessment procedure of the application is set in motion. The
appointments and equalizations, however, are running behind schedule,
due to, inter alia, the gaps in the information accompanying the
applications. As a result, it is likely that the majority of fairground
and playground equipment will not be able to meet the inspection
obligation when the aforementioned Order enters into effect. To
alleviate these problems of capacity, it has been decided to grant
temporary exemption from the inspection obligation to fairground and
playground equipment which has been submitted for inspection or
equalization of a foreign certificate. 8. Relevant documents: Dangerous
Equipment Act; Order on the Safety of Fairground and Playground
Equipment. 9. Proposed date of adoption: 21 May 1997; Proposed date of
entry into force: 22 May 1997. 10. Final date for comments: 20 May
1997. 11. Texts available from: National enquiry point. (0128) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0631 19970512\FO-0004)
