COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MAY 13,1997 PSA#1844NETWORKING SESSION the General Services Administration (GSA) is hosting
a networking session for the purpose of enhancing subcontracting
opportunities for small, small disadvantaged and women-owned small
business under its Virtual Data Center Services Contract. This contract
will meet the needs of agencies that elect to outsource data processing
requirements to commercial concerns. competing prime contrators
include: Computer Science Corporation, SunGard Computer Services, Inc.
and Unisys Corporation. The estimated dollar value of the procurement
is $6 billion over its 10 year life. The GSA networking sessions will
allow the proposed competing prime contractors and several groups of
small, small disadvantaged, and women-owned businesses the opportunity
to come together and exchange business interest with the hope of
estabishing a contracting realtionship under the Virtual Data Center
Services Contract. Subcontracts currently in place under the existing
Virtual Data Center Services Contract include:
Hardware/software,Technical Support and Supporting Supplies and
Services, Maintenance Service, Office Supplies and Equipment. this is
the only networking session that is to be held for this acquisition,
unless it is later determined that additional sessions are necessary.
The sessions will include the three prime contractors and 40 to 80
small, small disadvantaged, and women-owned small businesses. Although
some of the prime contractors had already established teamming
arrangements with other companies, ther still exist contracting
opportunities for small, small-disadvantaged, and women-owned small
businesses. the networking session is scheduled for 9:00am to 12:00pm,
June 5, 1997 at: General Services Administration Training Center, 490
