Z -- STRUCTURAL REPAIRS TO BUILDING 2, U.S. FOREST PRODUCTS LABORATORY, MADISON, WI SOL RFQ-FPL-97-5 DUE 062797 POC Christina Shade, Contracting Officer, 608-231-9285 (FAX 608-231-9585) The U.S. Forest Products Laboratory requires structural repair and reinforcement work to one of its government-owned wood research laboratory buildings, Building 2 (located at the above address), which was fire damaged in late 1995. The project includes furnishing all labor, materials, tools, equipment and incidentals necessary to provide for complete construction required to return Building 2 to service. The following work is included in the base bid: 1) Cleaning of smoke-damaged interior surfaces including perimeter and partition walls, ceilings and existing arches in Building 2. The building is approximately 160 feet long and 46 feet wide. Wall height is approximately 12 feet. Ceiling height at the ridge is approximately 18 feet. 2) Removal of charred wood from the surfaces of three arches, roof joists, and hip beams by sandblasting. 3) Removal and disposal of fire-damaged plywood ceiling panels. 4) Removing and reinstalling steel beams and columns. 5) Furnishing and installation of roof joists, glued-laminated beams and ceiling plywood panels. 6) Providing materials to protect utilities, fixtures, windows, doors, structural components and equipment in the building from damage during repair activities. Price Range is between $25,000 and $100,000. All responsible sources may submit an offer which will be considered. Source selection will be on the basis of Government's determination of best value using simplified acquisition procedures. Experience, Past Performance, Price, Plans for conducting the work, and Knowledge of the site are all factors which will be considered.
