collaborative research effort with the Greater New Orleans Expressway
Commission, the U. S. Army Engineer Waterways Experiment Station,
Vicksburg, MS, will request proposals to furnish all necessary
fiber-reinforced polymer composite piles and walers in addition to
associated corrosion-resistant connectors for a fendering system along
both sides of the maritime crossing under the Lake Pontchartrain
Causeway Bridge at the North Channel Bascule. The offeror will be
required to furnish materials that will meet or exceed the impact,
abrasion, and durability performance of the wooden fender design which
will be provided with the solicitation. Supporting calculations and
test data as well as material specifications and assembly drawings will
be required to illustrate that the proposed composite fendering meets
the performance requirements. This procurement is for the materials
only. The removal of the old system and installation of new system are
to be separate actions. It is anticipated that a firm fixed-price
contract will be awarded as a result of this solicitation.
DACW39-97-R-0038 will open on or about 12 Jul 97. All responsible small
business sources may submit a proposal which will be considered. See
Numbered Note 1. All potential offerors are strongly encouraged to
attend a site visit. The time and location will be provided in the
solicitation. This procurement will only be available via the Internet
as printed solicitations will not be available. Also the Government
reserves the right to use only the Internet as notification of any
amendments to this solicitation. It is, therefore, the offeror's
responsibility to view the website frequently. On or about 23 May 97
