COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MAY 14,1997 PSA#1845SLOVAK REPUBLIC: STN EN 55022 -- LIMITS AND METHODS OF MEASUREMENT OF
RADIO DISTURBANCE CHARACTERISTIC OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY EQUIPMENT
The following notification is being circulated in accordance with
Article 10.6. G/TBT/Notif.97.189. 1. Member to Agreement notifying:
SLOVAK REPUBLIC. If applicable, name of local government involved
(Articles 3.2 and 7.2). 2. Agency responsible: Slovak Ministry of
Transport, Posts and Telecommunications. Agency or authority designated
to handle comments regarding the notification can be indicated if
different from above. 3. Notified under Article 2.9.2. 4. Products
covered (HS or CCCN where applicable, otherwise national tariff
heading. ICS numbers may be provided in addition, where applicable):
Information technology equipment. 5. Title, number of pages and
language(s) of the notified document: STN EN 55022 -- Limits and
Methods of Measurement of Radio Disturbance Characteristic of
Information Technology Equipment (62 pages, available in Slovak). 6.
Description of content: Procedures are given for the measurement of the
levels of spurious signals generated by the ITE and limits are
specified for the frequency range 9 kHz to 400 GHz for both Class A and
Class B equipment. No measurements need to be performed at frequencies
where no limits are specified. 7. Objective and rationale: The
intention of this Standard is to establish uniform requirements for the
radio disturbance level of the equipment contained in the scope, to fix
limits of disturbance, to describe methods of measurements and to
standardize operating conditions and interpretation of results. The
adoption of this Standard as a compulsory regulation will facilitate
the international trade since the Standard is identical with the
internationally recognized and Europe-wide used Standard IEC/CISPR 22
and CENELEC/EN 55022. Obsolete and non-compatible national standards
are replaced by this Standard. The adoption of CENELEC Standard in the
form of compulsory regulation is only a temporary solution based on
the Act. No. 142/1991 on Slovak Technical Standards (amended and
supplemented by the Act No. 632/1992 and Act No. 143/1995. In the
course of approximation of the Slovak laws to the EU legislation this
Act will be brought in line with the EU new approach and global
approach principles, and via the adoption of relevant regulations the
status of this CENELEC Standard will be converted in the Slovak
Republic into the voluntary one. 8. Relevant documents: STN 34-2860 --
Electric engineering regulations. Suppression of radio inference
caused by electric motors, apparatus and appliances. STN 34-2895 --
Electric engineering regulations. Suppression of radio interference
caused by wire communication apparatus. STN EN 55022 idt EN 55022. 9.
Proposed date of adoption: Not listed; Proposed date of entry into
force: Not listed. 10. Final date for comments: 30 June 1997. 11. Text
