for a rough order of magnitude unit price. Solicitation and TDP will
not be provided at this time. The hand spike lock assembly is used to
lock a component of the M119A1 Howitzer in place. It consists of a
wrought steel machined body with two mounting holes that house a case
hardened steel plunger, steel wire wound spring and a military standard
spring pin to hold the latch assembly together. The body and plunger
are machined from steel material grade 1018-1040 per ASTM A108 or A576
while the spring is wound from a spring steel wire diameter of .035
per ASTM A227. The assembly is protected with a finish of zinc
phosphate base of 5.3.2.3 and 5.3.2.1 per MIL-STD-171. Approximate
dimensions of the main part are 1.14 inches x 2.14 inches x 1.39
inches. Requirements are 14 ea Handspike, Lock, for use on the M119A1
Howitzer. FOB is Destination. All or part of this action will be an
unfunded FY97 requirement. Proposed contract is a 100 percent small
