COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MAY 15,1997 PSA#1846US Army, CECOM Acquisition Center, Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey 07703-5008 59 -- GYROSCOPE REPLACEMENT PROGRAM E-MAIL: Gyroscope Replacement
Program, Levine@doim6.monmouth.army.mil. This is a market survey to
locate potential commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) sources for Form, Fit
and Function (F3) directional and vertical replacement gyroscopes
described below and used in US Army CH-47 Chinook and UH-60 Black Hawk
helicopters. Approximately 1800 of these aircraft are currently in the
inventory. Manufactures of this category of gyroscopes are encouraged
to offer available COTS equipment on loan to the Government, for the
purpose of ground and flight test evaluation. Only suppliers whose
systems have been successfully evaluated, will be considered for
subsequent procurement of such equipment by the Government. This action
is not a request for proposal and does not commit the (Army) to the
procurement of equipment. The specifications and equipment identified
for replacement are; 1.)MIL-G-45279 is currently used for the
procurement of the CN-998()/ASN-43 directional gyroscope for both the
CH-47 and UH-60 aircraft. 2.)MIL-G-49266(CR) is currently used for the
procurement of CN-811 vertical displacement gyroscopes for the CH-47
aircraft. 3.)MIL-G-49267(CR) is currently used for the procurement of
CN-1314 vertical displacement gyroscopes for the UH-60 aircraft.
4.)MIL-G-49268(CR) is currently used for procurement of CN-1497/A
vertical displacement gyroscopes for AH-1 aircraft. These military
specifications will be converted to core F3 Directional and Vertical
Gyroscope performance specifications, each with a key Mean Time Between
Failure (MTBF) requirement of >_5000 hours for the equipment. Addenda
to accommodate aircraft peculiar requirements will be included. It is
anticipated that after Government approval, these draft specifications
will be available by NLT 1 July 1997 on the CECOM electronic bulletine
board. Suppliers capable of furnishing a COTS gyroscope of any
technology for either application must so indicate, in writing, to
Commander, USACECOM, C2SID, ATTN: AMSEL-RD-C2-ES-N(Eugene Levine), Fort
Monmouth, NJ 07703-5603 within 20 days of publication of this notice.
This synopsis is for informational and planning purpose only and does
not constitute a solicitation and is not to be construed as a
commitment by the Government. It is the intent of the Government to
obtain sample items on a consignment basis for flight test in an Army
helicopter. A sample item must be available for government testing NLT
