COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MAY 15,1997 PSA#1846PROCESS SOLUTIONS RECOVERY & RECYCLE INFORMATION EXCHANGE The National
Center for Excellence in Metalworking Technology (NCEMT), operated by
Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) for the Navy Manufacturing
Technology (MANTECH) Program, will conduct a workshop entitled,
"Metalforming -- Experiment, Analysis, and Application," on June 11-13,
1997, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. This workshop, intended for managers,
engineers and technicians who are not necessarily metalforming
specialists, will focus on state-of-the-art methods of metalforming
process optimization. Forging, rolling, extrusion, and sheetforming
processes will be covered, with a materials focus on conventional steel
and aluminum alloys, as well as superalloys and intermetallics. Also
included will be a review of the basics of mechanics and metallurgy of
plastic deformation and failure. Laboratory demonstrations and
examples of the application of advanced modeling techniques to solve
industrial metalworking problems will be presented. Workshop attendees
will acquire improved capabilities in metalforming problem solving and
troubleshooting, as well as in deformation process simulation design.
Attendees will also be provided with an understanding of physical and
numerical process modeling, as well as materials modeling. Participants
are encouraged to bring sample parts and problems for examination,
discussion, and solution. Registration must be completed by May 23,
1997. For more information, contact Ms. Tricia Wright, Concurrent
Technologies Corporation, 1450 Scalp Avenue, Johnstown, PA 15904, (814)
