Young (Contracting Officer), 202/565-4451, William Lasley, JR, (Project Manager), 202/565-6280 This is a correction showing the "Bid Opening Date" is changed from 08-01-97 to 07-01-97 Ambulatory Care Addition/Environmental Improvements, VA Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre, PA-The work includes asbestos abatement, the construction of a new four story plus mechanical penthouse ambulatory care addition, a new 10 story elevator, support and building services tower (west tower) and a seven story support and building service tower (east tower) to Building No. 1, plus the interior renovation of various portions of the existing buildings. The new structures will consist of a steel frame with metal deck and concrete floor slabs. The exterior will be preformed metal panels with integral aluminum windows. The new construction includes, skylight areas, curtain wall and storefront as well as ballasted membrane insulated roof. The work includes all interior walls and finishes for both new and renovation areas. Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection systems and site work are included for the newadditions and renovation areas. -- Cost Range: Between $20 and $50 million.
