Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command is soliciting proposals for
research in the areas of advanced ceramic, other advanced materials,
tribology, and combustion Technologies to contribute to a higher power
density and lower fuel consumption Diesel engine. This will be
accomplished by conducting analytical studies to identify specific
engine parameters, materials, and components, to meet specific
performance requirements. The contractor, working in conjunction with
Southwest Research Institute (swri), Wayne state University, rutgers
University and army research LAB (ARL), Aberdeen, MD (under already
pre-existing government contracts and agreements), shall develop, test,
and evaluate technology to optimize single cylinder demonstrator engine
(scde) performance, and demonstrate the mechanical integrity and
durability by using single cylinder engine test runs under both
analytically simulated and actual test conditions. The project is
non-system specific. The period of performance is 65 months. This
