66 -- X-RAY DIFFRACTOMETER SOL RFP No. 16-91H2-97 POC Ken Eason, 510/559-6018, FAX 510/559-6023, Contract Specialist A presolicitation notice for the x-ray diffractometer for the USDA, Agricultural Research Service, Western Regional Research Center in Albany, California, appeared in the Commerce Business Daily (CBD) on April 24, 1997. This is the second and final notice that will appear in the CBD. The Center has a requirement for an x-ray diffractometer, to perform powder diffraction analysis of industrial biopolymers and synthetic polymers including starch, polyesters, carbohydrates, polystyrene, proteins, etc. It must obtain reflectometry data with an accuracy of at least 5% for a~200A thick film of synthetic polymer on an optically flat silicon crystal. It must have the flexibility to perform transmission x-ray characterization of films and fibers. This acquisition is unrestricted and open to both small and large business concerns.
