Pastura, Contract Specialist, (703) 305-2991 The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food and Consumer Service (FCS), intends to issue a competitive procurement for advisory and assistance services to conduct a focused analytic study of the data collected by the U.S. Bureau of the Census through the USDA-sponsored Food Security Supplement to the Current Population Survey (CPS) in September 1996 and April 1997. These data are directly comparable to the original food security data collected for USDA in the April 1995 CPS and subsequently analyzed in FCS' 1995 Food Security Measurement Study. The present study will measure the severity and extent of U.S. food insecurity and hunger in 1996 and 1997 by applying the same measurement methodology as developed in the 1995 study to the second and third rounds of the CPS food security data.
