The University of California, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, seeks sources for the transportation of Type B quantities of radioactive waste from LLNL to the Nevada Test Site (NTS). The waste is currently packaged in four 55-gallon Type-A metal drums that meet DOT Type A requirements. The contents of the 55-gallon drums is to be transported without repackaging. The waste is contaminated with tritium at greater than 1,080 curies. The maximum tritium level is less than 5,000 curies per 55-gallon drum. The tritium may be in the form of tritiated gas or water absorbed on a filter media (molecular sieves). Prospective sources should be capable of supplying a licensed Type B container with written instructions for its use, any specialized tools needed for opening, closing, or testing the container, transportation of the container to NTS, and the personnel to supervise the unloading of the Type B container at NTS. Interested firms should respond with a description of qualifications with respect to theforegoing or related fields. The Small Business size standard applicable to the proposed acquisition is $18.5 million dollars. Firms qualifying as a Small Business with respect to this standard should so state.
