20250-9850 70 -- REMOVABLE MEDIA MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE SOL NA DUE 063097 POC Bill
Boyd (202) 720-8946 Software -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture's
National Information Technology Center at Kansas City has a requirement
for software to manae removable media across systems that share DASD.
The software functions include library management, volume management,
data set management, and software product level management. The
software must be capable of managing all types of tapes and cartridges
and must effectively interface with the disaster recovery software in
use (IBM ABARS). Interface requirements include: management of the
creation of backup tapes; automated management of tape volume movement
to and from the primary facility, the off-site storage facility, and
the backup facility; management of scratch volume processing; and the
capability to dynamically add and remove volume serial number ranges to
the system. The software must be year 2000 compliant. The only known
source for software with the functional capabilities described above is
IBM's product "Removable Media Manager (DFSMSrmm). Firms which can
offer software with similar capabilities are encouraged to submit
documentation which demonstrates those capabilities. This is not a
request for offers. No solicitation document exists. Documentation
submitted must clearly demonstrate the product's functional capability
and price. USDA will not pay for any documentation provided. Requests
for a copy of a RFP will not receive a response. Telephone inquiries
will not be acknowledged. See Note 22. (0139) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0332 19970521\70-0009.SOL)
