J -- MAINTENANCE OF TELEPHONE SYSTEMS SOL SSA-RFQ-98-3086 DUE 060397 POC Rita Carter Tel: (410) 965-8789 The Social Security Administration (SSA) is contemplating a full and open competitive acquisition for the maintenance of 570 telephone systems. This acquisition will be conducted under the authority of the test program for commercial items contained in the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), subpart 13.6 and as authorized by 41 U.S.C 253. Specifically, FAR subpart 13.601(a) provides authorization to utilize simplified procedures for the acquisition of commercial items which do not exceed $5,000,000.00, including options. The RFQ will be issued requesting a single source to provide maintenance. These telephone systems are located throughout the continental United States. The contractor shall provide labor, documentation, repair parts, maintenance supplies, tools, test equipment, transportation and other related services and shall keep the equipment in good operating condition. The systems range in size from 4 stations to 75 stations and some systems include battery backup, answering machines, printers and other associated equipment. This acquisition will also include option provisions for supplemental equipment and services (adds, moves, changes, reprogramming, adding new lines, stations, cards,etc., as needed). There will be a principal period of maintenance from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday for routine malfunctions and a principal period of 24 hours 7 days per week for emergency malfunctions. The resulting contract will require experienced personnel to service equipment and will include four (4) one-year option renewals.
