modification notice is issued to amend the description published in the
Commerce Business Daily issue number PSA-1831, Thursday, April 24,
1997, for two (2) each universal cylindrical grinders. The amended
description shall read as follows: The cylindrical grinding machine
shall be the manufacturer's current production model, complete and
ready for installation at Anniston Army Depot. The cylindrical grinding
machine shall be capable of external and internal grinding. The
cylindrical grinding machine shall be a manually operated or
semi-automatic (numerical control) machine. Semi-automatic machines
shall have a means to allow for manual control of the machine by the
operator. The cylindrical grinding machine SHALL NOT be a computer
numerically controlled (CNC) machine. The grinding machine shall meet
the following size and capacity requirements. Where a range of values
is given, the machine shall be capable of operating at or above the
minimum value and at or below the maximum value in the range. The space
requirements of the grinding machine, when installed in the shop, shall
not exceed 15' L x 8' W x 8' H, rated swing diameter shall be not less
than 14 inches and not greater than 16 inches, the maximum distance
between centers shall not be less than 30 inches, the table shall
swivel so that the headstock rotates not less than 9 degrees away from
the wheelhead and 3 degrees toward the wheelhead. A minimum of three
(3) grinding wheels shall be provided with the grinding machine. The
grinding machine shall include a recirculating coolant system with a
reservoir. The grinding machine shall operate on 220/449 volt, 3 phase,
60 hertz input power and include standard equipment such as hand tools,
spare parts, or other items required for operation of the grinding
machine. Quantity (2 each). Equipment is to be delivered by the
contractor to Anniston Army Depot, AL 36201-4199 within 180 calendar
days after contract award. All responsible sources may submit an offer
