927-1139 Eight AS&E 66Z x-ray systems have been purchased under a
General Services Administration Schedule Contract, which does not
include options required to meet U. S. Customs functional requirements.
The systems were designed and manufactured by American Science &
Engineering (AS&E), Incorporated, 829 Middlesex Turnpike, Billerica, MA
01821, using their patented MICRO-DOSE Flying Spot Scanning Beam
technology. AS&E is the sole manufacturer of the resources to modify
the systems as required. The requirement will be processed under the
authority of 10 USC 2304(c)(1), only one responsible source and no
other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This
notice of intent is not a solicitation for competitive proposals. See
