66 -- UPGRADE OF AUTOMATED DNA SEQUENCER SOL 97-118(Q) POC Ken Fortune, Purchasing Agent at (404)842-6781 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intend to negotiate, on a sole source basis, purchase of two (2) ABI Model 373XL Automated DNA Sequencer Upgrades from Perkin Elmer Corporation (850 Lincoln Center Drive, Foster City, CA 94404). These upgrades are to expand sequence analysis throughput, allow for more efficient and accurate data collection, and are only compatible with systems previously installed with the 672 GeneScan Module. The upgrade includes (1) service installation; (2) instrument ROM; (3) translation Interface Processor; (4) Power Macintosh Computer with extended keyboard and Apple 15" monitor; (5) 373XL Data Collection Software; (6) 373XL instrument user manual; and (7) 1 User License of Sequencing Analysis V3.0 and GeneScan Analysis V2.1. All interested parties may identify their interests, but must provide proof of capability, in writing, to provide an acceptable product by submitting, pricing data, an accurate description of the equipment offered, and make and model numbers of the equipment. Since no solicitation package exists, requests for such documents without accompanying information to establish the vendor's capability of meeting the Government's needs will be considered non-responsive to this synopsis. Only responses containing this data will be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Award will not be made on the basis of responses to this synopsis. If no feasible responses are received by the close of business 30 days from the date this notice appears in the CBD, a contract will be negotiated with the above named source.
