Defense Command intends to negotiate and award a noncompetitive
contract to Texas Instruments, Inc., Systems Group, P.O. Box 801,
McKinney, Texas 75070 (TI) for R&D services to modify the RS-800
Infrared Line Scanner (ILS) and Data Collection System. The RS-800 is
a unique, high resolution line scanner containing specialized filter
technology and optical design features developed by Texas Instruments.
Modification of the RS-800 will require TI to develop real time
discrimination of gaseous plumes to produce output of enhanced plume
imagery and detection data, develop improved inputs for computerized
modeling, and perform the actual hardware modifications and performance
