The Silo-based ICBM System Program Office (SPO), Ogden, Logistics Center (OO-ALC), requires spare parts for the Minuteman III ICBM Guidance System. Subject parts are unique in that they provide not only structural support and a cover to other instruments but also provides an integral radiation shield. The radiation shield consists of four main parts: a lower housing access cover (P/N 70768- 201-1), an upper housing access cover (P/N 70771-201-1), an upper housing (P/N 70754-201- 11), and a lower housing (P/N 70752-201-1), The lower housing includes the center band ( P/N 70757-201-1),. Additional shielding is also provided for all line-of-sight paths due to openings in the main shield for connectors, coolent lines, valve openings, and the optical access window. This additional shielding is provided by: connector-cover baffles, coolant line cover-baffles, a window shim and tube and a pneumatic valve cover baffle. All shield parts contain special shielding material. In addition, the thickness is required to be equal to or greater than specified values. Shielding for line-of-sight through the alignment windows is provided by the special composition of the glass.
