Specialist, (404) 842-6785 The Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC) contemplates awarding a contract for collection of
data for a case-control study to estimate vaccine effectiveness of
pertussis-containing vaccines among children aged 6-59 months. The
contractor shall work with public health authorities, health care
providers and laboratories to find incident pertussis cases. After
identification of each newly confirmed pertussis case, five age-matched
controls will be selected. Detailed vaccination history collected from
cases and controls will be used to estimate effectiveness of
pertussis-containing vaccines. Bordetella pertussis isolates from
children aged 6-59 months in the study who have culture-confirmed
pertussis shall be obtained for pulsed field-gel electrophoresis and
antimicrobial sensitivity testing at CDC. The anticipated performance
period is 12 months. Options may be exercised for two additional years.
Requests for the solicitation will be filled on a limited
first-come-first-served basis until the supply is exhausted. The date
specified for receipt of offers will be approximately 30 days after the
RFP issue date. Requests for the RFP must specify the RFP No.
