(ADPA), Combat Survivability Division, is sponsoring a symposium
entitled, "Enhancing Aircraft Survivability -- A Vulnerability
Perspective". The symposium, to be held 21-23 October 1997 at the Naval
Postgraduate School, Monterey, California, will highlight Vulnerability
Reduction Technologies and what can be done to protect military (fixed
and rotary wing) and commercial aircraft and crew/passengers from the
dangers posed by current and evolving threats including combat,
terrorism and onboard fires. The symposium is being sponsored in
cooperation with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the
American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), the American
Helicopter Society (AHS), the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA),
the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), the National Defense
Transportation Association (NDTA) and the Joint Technical Coordinating
Group on Aircraft Survivability (JTCG/AS). This symposium is signed to
increase awareness and foster technology interchange across the
military, government and commercial aviation sectors. Invited speakers,
selected papers, and panel discussions will examine operational
requirements, system designs, latest threat intelligence, emerging
vulnerability reduction technologies, assessment methodologies, as well
as affordability and integration issues. The call for papers has been
