COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MAY 29,1997 PSA#1855Bureau of Land Management, 1387 S. Vinnell Way, Boise, ID 83709 99 -- SECURITY SYSTEM FOR MINING CLAIM CASE FILES AND DOCUMENTS DUE
062097 POC Patricia A. Fort, Contracting Officer, 208-373-3910 THIS IS
A MARKET SURVEY TO DETERMINE THE AVAILABILITY OF A SECURITY SYSTEM FOR
MINING CLAIM CASE FILES AND DOCUMENTS: The Bureau of Land Management,
Idaho State Office, Mining Claims Section is the custodian of all
documentation concerning unpatented mining claims on Federal Lands.
These documents contain critical information required by Federal laws
and regulations relating to the date of receipt by our office before
certain statutory deadlines. This makes many of the documents on file
in our office irreplaceable if lost or stolen. For this reason the
Idaho State Office Mining Claims Section is requesting information on
security systems which could prevent these documents from being removed
from the building. We need a system that would set off an alarm,
attracting attention, if the files or documents are removed from the
Idaho State Office Public Room. Solutions are not limited to alarm
systems. We currently have almost 180,000 mining claims recorded with
this office and additional claims are received each day. Many of these
claims are in folders containing more than one claim so the number of
actual folders is much less. However, if we find a system which tags
all documents received the numbers would be much higher. The sole
purpose of this synopsis is to identify prospective sources and does
not commit the government to issue a solicitation or to make an award.
