B -- STUDY 'ENDORECTAL MR SPECTROSCOPY OF THE PROSTATE" SOL RFP 573-032-97 DUE 061097 POC Sally Thomas, Contract Specialist (352) 374-6022 or Fax# (352) 374-6117 The Research Department at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida, intends to issue a contract with the University of Florida Department of Neuroscience and the Center for Structural Biology. Project #0023, entitled "Endorectal MR Spectroscopy of the Prostate" has been approved with the Principal Investigator, Dr. Perinchery Narayan. The objective of this project is to develop a noninvasive nuclear magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and spectroscopic (MRS) technique for cost effective selection of patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) with or without prostate cancer for various forms of medical therapy. The University of Florida Department of Neuroscience and Center for Structural Biology is fully equipped to perform all of the static and dynamic imaging functions necessary to complete our project and the only facility in the southeast with access to a 3Tesla magnet.
