(860) 285-7191 The U. S. Postal Service is soliciting proposals to
replace the cooling tower at the Springfield Bulk Mail Center at 190
Fiberloid St. in Springfield, MA 01152-9998. Work includes, but is not
limited to, removing, retrofitting, and reinstalling the existing
cooling tower; removing and replacing the existing chilled water and
condenser water pumps; removing the existing air dryers; providing new
cooling tower filtration system; and providing connection to the
building automation system. The estimated cost of the work is between
$200,000.00 and $500,000.00, with completion within 150 calendar days
after receipt of notice to proceed. Sealed offers will be received in
this office prior to, but no later than, 4:00 p.m. on June 25, 1997.
Offers will not be publicly opened. The number of offers received, the
identity of the offerors, the amount of any offer, or relative
standing of the offerors WILL NOT BE DISCLOSED TO ANYONE until award of
contract is made. Proposal documents, plans and specifications will be
available o/a May 28, 1997 at a cost of $25.00 per set
(non-refundable) from the Facilities Service Office, U. S. Postal
Service, 6 Griffin Road North, Windsor, CT 06006-0300. Certified checks
or money orders only, made payable to the Disbursing Officer, U. S.
Postal Service (Reference Solicitation No. 082530-97-A-0084). Plans may
be inspected at the issuing office and information regarding their
availability may be obtained by contacting Cathy Cosgrove at (860)
285-7191. Questions concerning the technical aspects of the proposal
should be directed to Ned Taylor at (617) 878-6223. There will be a
preproposal conference for this project on Wednesday, June 11, 1997 at
10:00 a.m. at the site. The conference is not mandatory, but all
