The Peace Corps plans to award a requirements contract for accommodations for Peace Corps Volunteers who return to the U.S. for diagnosis and/or treatment of medical conditions. The facility must be within the District of Columbia in the area bounded by 27th St., N.W., on the West; E St., N.W., on the South; 16th St., N.W., on the East; and N St., N.W., on the North; or in the Rosslyn area of Arlington, VA, in an area bounded by Moore St. on the East; North Washington St. on the West; Fort Myer on the South; and the George Washington Parkway on the North. The facility must have twelve (12) suites accommodating up to three guests in each suite. The lease must specify the twelve rooms by room number for the permanent use of the Peace Corps. Individual suite assignments will be made by Peace Corps on the basis of gender mix, medical conditions, and other factors. In the event changes in the room assignment are necessary, Peace Corps will notify the Contractor by fax or telephone. Each suite must have individual kitchen and bathroom facilities, and two beds and a convertible couch. An additional bed may be substituted for the convertible couch. The Contractor shall provide provision for linen and housekeeping services; use of the suites on a 24-hour basis without prior notice but subject to the usual registration requirements of lessor; telephone and entry accommodations (registrations) on a 24 hour basis; capability to receive by fax and telephone and deliver messages that are left for volunteers; and access to phones that accept phone cards for long distance calls. Accommodations and common areas such as hallways, elevator, and lobby shall be maintained, clean, and orderly with adequate lighting and ventilation. The Contractor must have at least one suite that is accessible to wheelchairs although it need not be one of the suites reserved exclusively for Peace Corps, but it must be available when needed. When extra suites/rooms are needed and the facility has suites/rooms available, the facility shall provide the additional suites/rooms at the rate specified in the contract. The Contractor must provide a written procedure that details how the facility will make extra suites/rooms available to Peace Corps when they are needed. The facility must provide transportation (courtesy bus) service between the facility and Peace Corps offices at 1990 K Street, N.W., or in the event the address of the Peace Corps offices change, to the new address. The Peace Corps prefers that the facility provides transportation (courtesy bus) service between the facility and airport, nearest Metro subway station, and Georgetown Medical Center; floor plans of the suites assigned to Peace Corps that allow for the maximum privacy of the Volunteers who share the suites; and access to exercise facilities provided the Contractor has such facilities. The anticipated release date of the solicitation is June 12, 1997.
