14 -- NAVAIR, NAWCAD PAXTUXENT RIVER: FOIA GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENT POC Fax to Mike Canales at (703) 604-2968 The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) anticipates award of a contract to provide assistance in responding to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests received by the Command. This effort affects all NAVAIR and Naval Air Warfare Center, Patuxent River procurements. The contract will involve non-Government personnel assisting the Government with retrieving and reviewing any document required to be responsive to any FOIA request. These documents may contain commercial and/or other sensitive information. Unauthorized disclosure of sensitive information by non-Government personnel, as with Government personnel, would be prohibited and the appropriate safeguards will be instituted. Contractors who desire to restrict information handling to Government personnel only must advise NAVAIR during the response period of this announcement. Barring such notification, the non-Government personnel contracted to administer FOIA requests will process information under NAVAIR cognizance.
