Y -- PRE-SOLICITATION NOTICE: CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW LABORATORY BUILDING AT THE FBI ACADEMY, QUANTICO, VIRGINIA POC Mr. Mark R. Hazen, Contract Specialist, (202) 324-4528. This is a pre-solicitation announcement. The Federal Bureau of investigation (FBI) will be soliciting bids utilizing full and open competition to construct a new Laboratory Building of approximately 500,000 gross square feet (gsf) and a parking garage of 278,000 gsf for approximately 850 vehicles at the FBI Academy, U.S. Marine Corps Base, Quantico, Virginia. The building will contain a conference and training center and 500 seat auditorium. The work consists of the following: (1) site work including utilities to serve the building; (2) construction of an approximately 500,000 square feet, four-story laboratory building; (3) construction of a separate parking garage for approximately 850 vehicles; and (4) construction of an aproximately 35,000 gsf central plant. The estimated cost of this acquisition is over $75 million dollars. It is anticipated that the project will be bid in two (2) bid packages. The first being the garage building, which is expected to be released in August 1997. The second packagewill be for the laboratory building and central plant. It is expected that this package will be released in the Spring of 1998. Performance and payment bonds will be required on both projects. The FBI contemplates the award of two (2) firm-fixed price contracts as a result of these solicitations. The bidders awarded the resultant contracts shall be subject to background investigations on its company and all individuals assigned to this project.
