Z -- RECONSTRUCTION OF THE PERIMETER ROAD AND REPAIRS TO THE PERIMETER FENCE AT FORT BUCHANAN PUERTO RICO SOL DAKF11-97-B-0012 DUE 073097 POC Contract Specialist JANIE P WRIGHT (404) 464-4104 (Site Code DAKF11) Contractor to furnish all labor, equipment and materials and perform all work for the reconstruction of the Perimeter Road and the clearing of vegetation and repairs to the Fort Buchanan Perimeter Fence. The Perimeter Road is 14,000 feet long, 12 feet wide, and was constructed as a 1 1/2 inches thick asphaltic concrete surface course placed on the compacted in-situ soils. The Perimeter Road has exterior and interior chain-link fences, therefore, the working space is limited, in most of its length, to a 15 to 20 feet width within these fences. The reconstruction of the Perimeter Road will involve the removal and disposal of the existing wearing course and in-situ base material, and the construction of a new well-graded crushed stone base course, and a new asphaltic concrete wearing course. The work will also include construction of concrete drainage gutters and shoulder repair. The repair and vegetation clearing of the Fort Buchanan Perimeter Fence, involve the entire Fort Buchanan perimeter fence. The perimeter fence is a 7 foot chain-link fence with 3 strands of barbed wire. There are approximately 50,500 linear feet of fence along the Fort Buchanan boundary. Fence repair items will be specified per fence section. Repairs may involve some or all of the fence components per section. Vegetation clearing will involve the removal of all vegetation from the fence and to a distance of 10 feet away from the fence in the Fort Buchanan side. The magnitude of this project is between $500,000 and $1,000,000. This project is subject to the availability of funds.
