Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Research and Development,
Air Pollution Prevention and Control Division in RTP, NC has a
requirement for a paint spray booth with aging chamber. The spray booth
shall provide APPCD the capability to determine the effectiveness of
new coating technologies and the benefits of reduced VOC products for
specific applications. The coating and sampling system shall test
innovative products and technologies and the results will be
transferred to users who could use the information to prevent emissions
from their facility. Without this equipment, APPCD will not be able to
predict the mechanisms for the pollution prevention techniques or to
quantify the effects of reformulating products without VOCs. The
contractor shall provide and install a high performance paint spray
booth and environmental chamber in room P-119 of EPA's Environmental
Research Center in Research Triangle Park, NC. The spray booth shall be
sized to fit the space provided and shall includeair recirculation and
IR and thermal curing. The air recirculation requirement is needed to
split and separate the air flow from the top and bottom sections of
the booth. Air from the top section shall be recirculated to the booth
while the air from the bottom section shall be sent to a control
