Norris, Contract Specialist, (202) 433-5310/Fax (202) 433-5244; Rita Palmore, Contracting Officer The work consists of underwater removal of sediment up to 25 CY, removal of 17 existing Static Moment Magnetometers (SMS) from existing SMS tubes, installation of 17 new Government Furnished magnetometers into existing SMS tubes, encasement of new Government Furnished mangetometer cables associated with each new magnetometer into flexible non-magnetic hose or conduit, removal of existing SMS cables from existing pier cable risers, routing of new magnetometer cables through existing pier cable risers, removal of 3 existing Underwater Electrical Potential (UEP) magnetometers from existing UEP tubes, installation of 3 new Government Furnished UEP magnetometers into existing UEP tubes, encasement of new Government Furnished UEP magnetometer cables associated with each new magnetometer into flexible hose or conduit, removal of existing UEP cables from existing pier cable risers, installation of three Government Furnished cable risers, routing of new UEP cables through new pier cable risers, and incidental related work. The work is located at the Magnetic Silencing Facility, Naval Submarine Base, Kings Bay, Georgia. Qualified contractors shall be familiar with all rules and regulations for performing work in a navigable channel and have appropriate equipment for doing said work. The apparent low bidder will be required to meet minimum qualifications set forth in the solicitation. The construction duration is 21 calendar days and will be scheduled in the early August 1997 timeframe. Requests for the solicitation may be mailed to Naval Facilities Engineering Command Contracts Office, Washington Navy Yard (WNY), 901 M Street SE, Bldg 218, Washington, D.C. 20374-5063 or sent via facsimile by using (202) 433-5244. Contractors within the local area are encouraged to pick up a copy of the solicitation at Bldg 218 (third floor) of the WNY between the hours of 0730 and 1500, Monday-Friday. There will be no charge for these documents, however, there will only be one set issued per contractor. The solicitation will be available approximately fifteen days after this notice appears in the Commerce Business Daily. The bid due date shall be thirty days after the solicitation is made available to the public.
