HONG KONG: "CODE OF PRACTICE FOR ENERGY EFFICIENCY OF ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS (ELECTRICAL ENERGY CODE)" IN DRAFT. THE CODE WRITTEN IN ENGLISH CONSISTS OF 54 PAGES INCLUDING APPENDICES The following notification is being circulated in accordance with Article 10.6. G/TBT/Notif.97.217. 1. ICS numbers may be provided in addition, where applicable): This is a design code for energy efficiency of electrical installations in buildings covering design parameters and requirements for power distribution, utilization, power quality and metering, etc. 5. Title, number of pages and language(s) of the notified document: "Code of Practice for Energy Efficiency of Electrical Installations (Electrical Energy Code)" in Draft. The Code written in English consists of 54 pages including Appendices. 6. Description of content: The draft Electrical Energy Code sets out the minimum requirements of achieving energy-efficiency design of electrical installations in buildings. The Code specifies design parameters, control criteria of electrical power distribution, energy utilization, power quality and metering. The control figures are derived from data obtained from surveys and enquiries conducted in Hong Kong. Reference has also been made to national energy codes of other countries. A public consultation exercise is being conducted to invite relevant parties to comment on the technical aspects of the Code and to give opinions on the way of implementing the Code. 7. Objective and rationale: The draft Electrical Energy Code is one of the series of Building Energy Code which are being developed mainly for building professionals to promote the design of energy-efficient buildings. 8.
