Park Service, Glacier Bay Field Station, located in Gustavus, Alaska,
USA, has a need for a used, or unused, diesel-powered vessel of 40' to
55' length with an aft work deck capable of performing commercial
operations including diving, working crab and shrimp pots, setting and
hauling long lines, towing small barges weighing up to 30,000 pounds,
and deploying small nets. This vessel will be used as a research
vessel and will also need to deploy and tow various oceanographic
instruments. The vessel should be capable of safely operating
year-round in cold and inclement weather in open ocean conditions. The
hull should be full or semi-displacement with a draft no greater than
6 feet, with protected rudder and prop. The vessel must cruise at a
maximum speed of 8 knots when fully loaded, and also be capable of
sustained slow-speed (1-2 knots) oprtation. The vessel must be able to
provision a crew for up to 14 days. Offeror's must be willing to have
their vessel inspected, including an out-of-the-water inspection at
buyer's expense, and a sea trial will be required of the finalists. For
