66 -- LAB EQUIPMENT SOL E27814 DUE 062097 POC Trudy Dartouzost, Contract Specialist, ph: 301/443-2597, fax: 301/443-3651 The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), intends to award a purchase order for 17 X-ray monitors equivalent to the RADCAL Corporation Model 1015FBH with ionization chambers 10X5-6L and 10X5-6M. The monitors must be able to measure exposure, exposure rate, exposure integrated over a single pulse of radiation of 1 ms or greater, and the duration of the pulse. The monitors shall be equipped with one ionization chamber which shall be compatible with the Center for Devices and Radiological Health test stand and shall have an active volume not greater than 8 cc. This chamber shall have a measurement range of 1 mR/min to 650 mR/min and energy dependence less than 7% from M30 (HVL = .36 mm AL HC = 14) to the H150 (HVL -- 17.0 HC = 100). A second chamber shall have the same nominal volume but be designed for the measurement of mammographic x-ray beams. This chamber shall have less than 2% energy dependence in x-ray beams from molybdenum anodes for added filtrations of either 30 micrometers of molybdenum or 30 micrometers of molybdenum plus 2 mm aluminum. The calibration accuracy for both chambers shall be 5% or better. The monitors and chambers shall be contained within a case no larger than 8" by 10" by 12" and not to exceed 15 pounds. The monitors shall have a digital display and shall be powered by alkaline "D" cell batteries. The batteries shall have a lifetime for 750 hours of operation.
