June 4, 1997 Architectural Services Short Synopsis UCAR is seeking proposals from Architectural or Architectural/Engineering Firms to provide a variety of architectural and engineering designs for existing buildings. The majority of the projects will be small tenant finishes, but larger scope projects will also be included. The projects will incorporate code compliant designs, preliminary design documents, construction documents (drawings and specifications), cost estimates and construction schedules. The Firm selected must be of adequate size to provide timely completion of requested projects. The Firm must be familiar with local codes and provide designs which will meet the requirements of the City of Boulder for permitting purposes. The Firm will also be expected to be familiar with the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and incorporate those requirements into any designs. The Firm must schedule and attend meetings with users to determine the extent of work required for each project. Each project must incorporate long range strategic planning goals as provided by UCAR staff. Equipment specified must adhere to UCAR standards and be pre-approved by UCAR. The Firm must be capable of providing value engineering analysis and construction management on projects when requested by UCAR. Designs must maintain the character of the existing buildings. The Firm must demonstrate an awareness of the architectural significance of the Mesa Lab facility and have experience with working with buildings of similar prominence. UCAR requires that all construction drawings be provided in an AutoCAD Release 12 format. Those AutoCAD drawings must adhere to UCAR's document standards. All drawings, including copyrighted drawings, produced for UCAR projects will become the property of UCAR. (0155)
